ABOUT US
Tucked away in the heart of Lockhart, Texas, just south of Austin, Nightshade Gallery is an independent contemporary art gallery and intimate space for art, music, and community. You won’t stumble in by accident, you have to know where to look.
Step inside and you’ll find a room that feels equal parts gallery, Piano Lounge, and speakeasy, glowing softly under a red neon light.
Founded by curator and musician Jessica Pyrdsa, Nightshade began as a pop-up gallery in Philadelphia, born out of a desire to share her father Michael Pyrdsa’s striking realist paintings with more people. What started as a temporary experiment grew into a living, breathing creative hub. Now rooted in Lockhart and connected to the greater Austin and Central Texas arts community, Nightshade carries that same spirit of intimacy and impermanence—affectionately known to be “open sometimes.”
More than just a gallery, Nightshade is an evolving gathering place. We showcase established and emerging artists through rotating exhibitions and artist collaborations, alongside recurring Piano Lounge nights, live music, and special events.
